Responding to the growing need to address child health issues in urban poor settlements, the USAID/India-funded Urban Slum Child Health and Nutrition Program selected Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh (MP) as one of the first cities for program interventions. The process of determining the “what” and “how” of the proposed urban slum child health program was carried out by EHP/India staff with a systematic situational analysis of the urban health environment in the city.
This report documents the methodology used in the situational analysis. It is hoped that this report will help urban health program planners in conducting similar assessments to better identify and plan programs related to urban poor health needs.
