Based on research conducted by Guttmacher and the University of the Philippines Population Institute, Unintended Pregnancy and Induced Abortion in the Philippines: Causes and Consequences paints the most complete picture to date of abortion in the Philippines. It examines levels of unintended pregnancy and induced abortion; explores the characteristics of women who have abortions, the circumstances of and reasons for their abortions, and their decision-making processes; explains how and where women have abortions, and the health complications that often result from the widespread practice of clandestine abortion in this country; and makes concrete recommendations for policies and programs to reduce the incidence of unsafe abortion and help women prevent unintended pregnancies.
