The Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) is a coordinating body of National Committees of Parliamentarians on Population and Development. AFPPD works with Parliamentary Committees dealing with population and development issues in order to generate support and perpetuate cooperation among Asian parliamentarians in the area of population and development as well as related fields. The Asian Forum is committed to informing, educating and motivating parliamentarians on the linkages between population and issues such a reproductive health, family planning, food security, water resources, sustainable development, environment, ageing, urbanization, migration, HIV/AIDS and gender equality. With 24 national parliamentary committees/commissions on Health and Population in Asia and the Pacific as well as full time office support in 13 countries, AFPPD conducts regional seminars, conferences, and study visits to help parliamentarians increase their level of knowledge, involvement and motivation concerning issues related to population and development.
