BASICS II

The Basic Support for Institutionalizing Child Survival (BASICS II), is USAID's flagship project in the quest to improve child health. It builds on lessons of its predecessor, BASICS I (1994-1999). The global project is charged with achieving the greatest possible country-level impact on major threats to child health and providing technical leadership in policies and programming.

BASICS II focuses on four areas that promise the greatest reduction in mortality:
* effective and sustainable child immunisation
* perinatal and neo-natal health
* nutrition and growth promotion
* community integrated management of childhood illness
