Centre for Operations Research and Training
CORT is a a multidisciplinary social science research and training organization, based in Baroda, India, specializing in population, health, and development issues. CORT undertakes policy relevant research on issues of national importance; works for strengthening research capacity of NGOs, other organizations and individuals and increasing utilization of research through communication and dissemination of research results to relevant audiences like policy makers, program implementers, researchers, media etc.
CORT specialises in qualitative and quantitative research. Some of the areas in which CORT has special interest are: contraceptive use dynamics, operations research in reproductive and sexual health, adolescents, HIV/AIDS, abortion seeking behaviour, child labour.

Additional Information
CORT has so far conducted nearly 80 research projects in 18 states of India for the Government of India, national and international agencies. Among the large-scale studies carried out by CORT are the National Family Health Survey Phase II in the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra, the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) - Rapid Household Survey, Phase I in 69 districts and Phase II (ongoing) in 80 districts, the RCH – Facility Survey Phase I in Goa, Karnataka and Kerala and Phase II (ongoing) in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The execution of these large surveys often having sample size of more than 30,000 demonstrates CORT’s organisational capacity and expertise in conducting and analysing large field studies.
CORT has collaborating centres in Nepal and Bangladesh.
