EHP's principal objective is to reduce mortality and morbidity in children under-five associated with infectious diseases of major public health importance by improving environmental conditions or reducing exposure to disease agents. EHP, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), strives to provide leadership in the development, implementation and promotion of new and improved environmental health interventions.
Focus areas:
Prevent diarrheal disease in children under-five through Hygiene Improvement: an integrated approach that combines access to hardware, hygiene promotion through behavior change and an enabling environment.
Improve control programs for malaria and other vector-borne diseases by developing improved tools for surveillance, operations research and integrated vector management.
Assist organizations working in health, population and the environment, to link and integrate delivery approaches and activities in health, population and the environment (natural resource management).
Improve health of urban poor children.
